Question #6
The Google, Yahoo!, and AltaVista logos are each unique in their own ways. Each logo is to create an identity for that website and make it different from the rest. The Google logo catches a viewer’s attention because of the different colors, although overall I feel the font is very plain and unattractive. The original Google logo seems pretty boring, but Google adds little details to their logo according to something special that day, or they will just add random little cartoons around the logo that also catch a viewer’s attention. The Yahoo logo seems like a very exciting logo since the color is bright red; it really catches your attention. The AltaVista logo seemed very ‘corporate’ type and more like a website that would attract adults. I liked the Yahoo logo the most because it seems the most exciting and it caught my attention the most. Not only is the logo attractive but when visiting the sites home page, compared to Google and AltaVista, it seems more lively and informative. I liked AltaVista the least because it seems very uptight, and boring. When visiting the AltaVista site it feels like it will not be very informative and the sites will not be so reliable. This may also be because I have never heard of AltaVista before.
Question #13
I advise people conducting research on the web to be extremely careful of the sites they visit and get information from. Not all sites are trustworthy and not all have true information. Some ways to be sure that information and websites are valid and credible to explore the site to see if there is anything on there that seems unrealistic. There are many sites that may look trustworthy but when looked through them deeply you may find things that seem not so realistic, not only is there unrealistic stuff posted on websites but there are many sites that are used just to get people to click on advertisements. Advice for people to be sure that visual contents of websites are valid and credible is to be sure that the visual content of a website is copyrighted and to check the source of the visual content. Also, be sure that the visuals provided are not advertisements of some sort.
